In 2022 we partnered with Paul Moir, a novice motorcycle racer from Scarborough, North Yorkshire. We chose Paul due to his determination to compete at the iconic Oliver's Mount road racing circuit, our primary filming ground, right on his doorstep!
Paul was just a few race signatures away from gaining a clubman licence and was confident he could progress through the No Limits Racing series, on his Suzuki SV650 standard twin, consistently, to achieve his road racing licence and we were excited to document his progression!
We aimed to leverage our productions and social reach to document and promote Paul's motorcycle racing career. We arranged a meeting and filmed our first pre-season interview at the Oliver's Mount war memorial (part of the race circuit), overlooking Scarbourough castle and south bay, where we discussed Paul's prospects on the race tracks, sponsorships and desire to compete Oliver's Mount.
Starting the 2022 season at Snetterton and Donington Park, Paul sent us footage to produce highlight videos which reinforced his progress and support within the motorsport community.
Round 4 of the No Limits series aligned perfectly at our local Croft Circuit, giving us a great opportunity to experience a race environment within a competitive team camp. Unfortunately Paul's weekend was in pieces halfway around the warmup lap, following a collision from another rider. With help from the paddock, the team managed to get Paul racing again, to secure a further two race signatures!
Shortly after Round 4, Paul returned to Croft Circuit as part of an SBPromoVids outreach initiative, which brought motorcycle displays and racing partners to showcase machines at the prestigious JPC Specialist Motorsports supercar events.
This proved to be a great networking experience for us all, creating and improving relationships on and off the track!
After racing the 'The Mountain' course at Cadwell Park, the 2022 season came to a close in round 9 with another trip to Donington, where Paul managed a new personal best lap time [1:46.8] around the famous grand prix circuit!
The team also achieved a couple of podium trophies and secured a further two signatures towards a road racing licence.
Our partnership had shown to be an interesting experience, as we both improved upon our respective skills. The beginning of 2023 brought us to Paul's race tyre sponsor, who facilitated space for our second pre-season interview where we discussed new graphics, new sponsors, training and aims for the 2023 season.
The opening round of the 2023 No Limits series saw Paul crash at Snetterton, causing a dislocated shoulder and some minor bruising. After healing, Paul headed to Mallory Park for the first round of the EMRA series for some much needed bike time.
After a productive weekend at Cadwell Park in the second round of the No Limits series, Paul earned the two signatures he'd missed at Snetterton and clinched his final race signature at the second round of EMRA in May 2023...
Paul had achieved an ACU Road Race Competition Licence!
Documenting Paul's journey as a novice track racer, aspiring to compete at his local roads circuit, we were extremely proud to see the team setup in the Oliver's Mount paddock for their debut road race, at Cock 'O The North 2023!
Contending with headstock and steering issues form previous rounds, the wet weekend at The Barry Sheene Festival gave the team opportunity to dial-in other settings, adjusting the bike to suit road conditions.
Just 4 laps into qualifying at the prestigious Steve Henshaw Gold Cup, Paul suffered a collision with a newcomer entering the memorial section of the circuit (both riders ok). The team got Paul out for Saturday's race and were assigned to the Supersport-B warmup on Sunday, where they finished with a satisfying 5th fastest lap, against far superior machines.
Last-minute issues meant the bike was declared out-of-action for the opening race of the 2024 season, when Jack Turner stepped-in with another Suzuki SV650 for Paul to ride.
Although Jack's Suzuki was underpowered, Paul used the weekend as circuit experience that he originally would have missed. Qualifying in his inaugural Supertwins main races and bringing his lap times down by 3 seconds, proved Paul was becoming comfortable around his local road racing circuit.
